- I work as a part time consultant to various mining and construction companies. I was involved with the planning, engineering and the restart of the development of the Lucky Friday #4 Shaft. I have also worked as a consultant performing estimates for a large California highway tunnel near Oakland ($269mm) and a slope entry for a Southwestern Pennsylvania coal mine ($40mm).Other projects have included the a feasibility review for the Rio Tinto–Oyu–Tulgoi mine, mine development estimate preparation for the feasibility review of the Nevada Copper–Pumpkin Hollow mine and the preparation of the bid estimate for shaft construction. My latest construction estimate was for a shaft and slope in New Mexico. Since 2011, I have been active as an associate with Sage Geotech, Inc.

- The project was to excavate and equip a winze from the 4900 level of the existing Lucky Friday Mine to the 8000 level. Duties included staff and contractor management for basic shaft design engineering, AFE estimate preparation, initial mine development by Hecla and contractors, shaft equipment purchasing, and project alternative analysis. The project was put on hold due to economic issues.

The Mulzer Crushed Stone Project consists of 2 portals and initial mine development for a new underground limestone mining operation.

Government projects requiring the coordination of construction, engineering, procurement, scheduling, quality control and project reporting.
Project Manager: TVA Blue Ridge Dam Low Level Outlet
The work involved construction of the following: access road, tunnel portal, lake coffer dam, rock grouting, inlet excavation, inlet lining inside coffer dam, tunnel excavation, lake tap connection to inlet, tunnel liner, valve house structure, valve installation, final testing and a pyritic rock disposal cell construction. Site management included client relations, field engineering, purchasing, scheduling, quality control and project reporting.
Project Manager: U1h Shaft at Nevada Test Site, Phase II
The work involved the setup, site preparation, excavation and concrete lining of a 1000-foot shaft as well as the associated underground station facilities.
Project Manager: BHP San Juan Coal Mine Shaft Pre-grout
Cement grout was pressure grouted around the perimeter of the upcoming shaft excavation to a depth of 486 feet.
Senior Estimator Project Engineer: Minorco Lisheen Lead/Zinc Development
This project was and EPC contract to develop a lead/zinc mine in Ireland. Included was a shaft and decline access with all the underground support facilities for the mine. Also included were the ground control and water control systems.

- Managed mining and civil engineering, construction and operation of projects. Projects included hazardous material cleanup, construction and pavement of 3.8 miles of U. S. Forest Service road in New Mexico; construction management, engineering, and procurement for 1,000,000 TPY gold heap leach mine in central Alaska; addition of a screening circuit to the crushing circuit in a central Alaskan 150 TPD gold plant.

- Prepared engineering, pay estimate, scheduling, quality control and submittal documentation for the $35 million dollar Rifle UMTRA cleanup project. Promoted to General Supt. in mid 1993 to assume the direction of the mill tailings relocation operation, associated setup programs and subcontractor direction. Work force consisted of approximately 50 equipment operators and 70 laborers at three different sites. Responsibilities also included the recruitment and hiring of the workforce. Over 8 million cubic yards of material were handled by the project completion in the fall of 1996.

- Directed ongoing mine operation, mining and civil construction project activities. Projects included a coal mine entry project in Valley Camp, UT; water and mill building demolition at the Gunnison UMTRA project; 130,000 cubic yard coal strip mine reclamation in Oklahoma and ground water grout sealing at the New Jersey Zinc (Gilman Mine).

- Performed on-site management of a 500 TPD mine operation. Project began as the grass roots setup of the support facilities, head frame and shaft collar construction. Mine development included 1200 foot of conventional shaft with one zone of grouting, station development, ramps and raises to access the ore body. Production consisted of both stope and bulk mining of the main ore body.

- Supervised installation of 7-ft. diameter, 40-ft. deep friction caissons for I-70 highway construction.

- Duties included engineering, purchasing, personnel hiring, cost and quality control, estimating, and client negotiations for a coal mine development project and the spillway tunnel repair for Hoover Dam.

- Directed on-site engineering, quality control and construction staff, site preparation and mining contractor during the construction of a $326 million oil shale mine development project. The project involved 3 shafts varying in size from 15 foot in diameter/ 2300 feet deep to 34 foot in diameter/ 1800 feet deep. Grouting and water pumping were extensive throughout the sinking effort. The production shaft head frame was 313 feet tall and contained more than 10,000 cubic yards of concrete. Following the suspension of development, my responsibility was to prepare the capital and operating cost estimates and schedules for the mine portion of the Cathedral Bluff Shale Oil Project.
